Anything that rips them out of their comfy little Watchtower-inspired reality and shows them that they've had their head in their ass until the very moment they are experiencing right NOW would be just fine by me. If a drug must be administered to accomplish this, then I'll vote for 1000 mikes of good ol' LSD, as it is easily smuggled, completely non-lethal, and undetectable if slipped into a drink.

lets get the elders stoned
by what_Truth? inthinking about vallis assembly post on the other board made me think of an evil idea.
suppose you were at an assembly eating lunch with the elder about to give the next talk (one of those two hour groaners).
all of a sudden he leaves to use the bathroom and you have a chance to sneak an illegal narcotic of your choice into his food*.

SNG--- That was hilarious. The last shot of Bob wearing the Santa suit has me on the floor!
Regarding being "face to face" with one of Jah's representatives, imagine if Armageddon did come and you realize that the rep God chose to send you was a 5-year old holding a Watchtower in one hand and a box of animal crackers in the other. "Gee, thanks a LOT God!"

I'll never forget the day that story (the Dwyer suicide) was on the news. I was in 5th grade and deeply affected as the very idea was beyond anything I would have imagined. Being exposed to things like this at an early age might explain someone growing up to find such violence entertaining. Sadly, the footage had much less of an effect on me as an adult, which shows how desensitized we can become.

Are JW apologists really that bad?
by seattleniceguy inin recent weeks, we've had a few jw apologists or sympathizers that have created a bit of a stir around these parts.
some of their posts have been inconsiderate of the feelings of others, causing no small amount of understandable outrage on several threads.
on other threads, some of them have frequently failed to even read the posts to which they are responding, causing them to make comments that are unrelated to the discussion at hand.

Good point, SNG. The apologists are an integral part of the JWD experience. It's so "encouraging" to compare our new and continually evolving mindsets with the two dimensional JW mentality.

and its 'goodbye from him'
by dostprefer ini've taken a leaf from holly's book to thank your for having me on the forum - thirteen interesting days but came to realise one cannot achieve much speaking from behind a screen.
people do not know who you really are, nor do you they.
i read many of holly's posts but few others.

You can lead a horse to water, but the horse's ass is still gonna face the other way.

You know you're NOT a JW anymore when...(add some)
by Flindersgirl inyou don't automatically wake up with a headache on sunday morning.... you no longer go around (while in field service) mentally deciding what home you'll "have" after armaggedon.... every item of clothing you buy as a woman is not first assessed for its modesty value.... you no longer worry about the 144,000 watching you have sex...:).
when on holiday you don't have to find the nearest kingdom hall asap (remember brother and sisters you are not on holiday from jehovah!!!).
being able to laugh about having a numb ass at the assemblies from sitting and the hilarity in having to tell people that you found the meeting "uplifting" when really you were fighting sleep the whole time.... you no longer have to avoid entire sections of music stores in order to make sure you don't pick up and "demonistic" vibes from backmasked cd's.

You put in a few extra hours at work on a Thursday and actually feel productive instead of guilty.
Your book shelves hold things you actually chose to read and you call them books, not publications.
The thought of addressing a complete stranger by "Brother So-and-so" is ridiculous.

I just finished "The Power of Now" last week. It showed me a whole new perspective on life--that of existing without the baggage of time. The angry, depressed, worried self that I thought was me is now a shed skin drying in the sunlight. This book can profoundly change your life, yet, once you've read it, it seems all so simple and I personally can't believe it took so long to catch on.

Do some WT phrases make you squirm?
by jeanniebeanz infor me it's "the doors of the ark are closing.
i can never forget as a child, being forced to see the graphic images in the publications showing families, mothers with little babies clinging to a rock and others drowning as the ark floats away.
fathers shaking their fists at god for destroying their families... it's like some of the little mind control still functioning in there somewhere causing a kneejerk reaction of uneasiness.... are there any others that bug you?.

Angst
by onacruse indo you feel it?.
i feel it, almost every day, and sometimes so intensely that it literally wakes me up in a cold sweat at 2 in the morning, just to toss and turn for the next 3 hours, like a pig on a spit.. that damnably frustrating anguish about so many things: the "what ifs," the "could have beens, "the should i have...??".
on the one hand, as an ex-jw, i can, and do, easily find a certain satisfaction in saying to myself "it was that god-damned religion in which i was raised.".

I believe that angst is intrinsic.
That pretty much sums it up. As long as you believe you must be anxious, or that it is somehow a sign of superior intelligence, you will be a victim of your own unnecessary thoughts. It is possible to turn it off, no matter how much of "it" you have, and when you do you will realize all that worrying was killing you from the inside.
